The Postman Cheval’s Mineral Palace
IN DEVELOPMENT
1915 – During a stay in the Drôme region, Nadine, an imaginative 11-year-old girl, meets Ferdinand Cheval as he completes the construction of a fantastical palace in his garden.
Captivated by the extravagance of the monument, Nadine sets out to befriend the gruff old man by contributing her own stones to the edifice. Each day, she searches the countryside for unique rocks—her personal tokens to access this imaginary realm, where gargoyles and sculptures sometimes come to life before her eyes.
Nadine also befriends Pierrot, a 7-year-old boy, whom she tries to initiate into this world of wonder. She’s determined to prove to him—and to the skeptical village children and her own family—that this so-called delusion of a former postman is something far greater.
But a mysterious and invisible force threatens the monument. Together, Nadine and Pierrot must confront this dark presence to protect the mineral dream of Ferdinand Cheval from crumbling into oblivion.
